About Funchatter

Funchatter is a free place to play quick trivia, word scramble and hangman games. Every game is a short set of rounds, and every point you earn adds to your profile total and the leaderboards.

How scoring works

• Trivia: 10 points for a right answer plus a speed bonus of up to 10 more. A wrong answer costs 1 point; running out of time scores 0.
• Word Scramble: up to 30 points a word (20 + up to 10 for speed). The first clue is free, and each extra hint costs 5 points. You can guess as many times as you like before the timer runs out, but each wrong guess costs 1 point.
• Hangman: 5 words a game, no timer. You can get 6 letters wrong, and each wrong letter costs 1 point. Solving a word scores 2 points per letter plus 5 for every life left; revealing a letter with the hint costs 10 (you always get at least 5 for a solve).
• Wrong answers: each one costs 1 point, in solo games and in the Game Rooms. Your total never goes below 0.

No repeats: each room remembers what you've already been shown, so you won't get the same question or word again until you've played through the whole room.

Academics rooms

Grades 3–12 each have a Trivia room (math, science, English language arts and social studies at that grade level), plus Scramble and Hangman rooms with vocabulary for that grade.

SAT & ACT prep

Practice rooms for each section of the SAT (Math; Reading & Writing) and the ACT (English, Math, Reading, Science), plus SAT and ACT vocabulary Scramble and Hangman. Every question was written for Funchatter in the style of the real tests (they are not official College Board or ACT questions), and a short explanation appears after you answer. Math rooms give you more time per question.

Community rules

• Be kind. No bullying, hate, or adult content.
• Never share personal info (address, phone, school, passwords).
• No spam or cheating. Admins can delete posts, lock topics and suspend accounts.
• You must be 13 or older to have an account. Parents: email support@funchatter.com to request deletion of an under-13 account.
• Game Rooms are for playing the games together — not for meeting strangers offline.

Credits & licenses

Questions in the fun Trivia rooms (not the Academics rooms) come from two openly licensed collections, both under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 (CC BY-SA 4.0) license:

• Open Trivia Database (opentdb.com), by its contributors (4,948 questions here).
• OpenTriviaQA by uberspot and contributors (14,800 questions here).

Changes we made: fixed text encoding and punctuation, removed questions that were dated, duplicated, ambiguous, broken or not suitable for a family site, and sorted them into rooms. Our adapted question collection is shared under the same CC BY-SA 4.0 license.
